.SHORT TERM...Today through Saturday night... The low pressure
system has moved into the region, bringing a dry cold front with
gusty winds to the region this evening. Gusts up to 50 mph have
been recorded near Baker City and Ontario.  Winds will stay elevated
through the morning and tomorrow, substantially decreasing
after nightfall. Winds have increased tonight across the
southern Snake Plain, so had added Southern Twin Falls and
Western Magic Valley zones to the advisory and moved the start
time up to 3:00am MDT/2:00am PDT.

Virga showers have been developing over the region, with
minimal to no accumulation reported over lower elevations. The
low will progress to the southeast, bringing temperatures 10-15
degrees lower through the day. The low will deepen over to the
east, bringing wraparound rain and snow showers tomorrow
afternoon to the Southwest Highlands and the Magic Valley.
Accumulations will be minimal for elevations below 6500 feet,
with slightly higher accumulations over higher terrain.

Strong northwest flow will continue over the region on Friday,
with cooler temperatures lingering into Friday evening. A quick
hitting ridge of high pressure will develop over the Western US
by Saturday morning, bringing dry and slightly warmer
temperatures.

.LONG TERM...Sunday through Thursday...A deep upper level trough
will stay centered over Canada, keeping us in mostly dry
northwest flow through early next week. A few shortwave troughs
will scrape the northwest corner of our CWA through the middle
of next week. Monday evening looks to see the strongest push,
with a 20-30% chance of rain and snow showers over the Central
ID mountains with slightly cooler temperatures. Snow levels
will stick around 4500-5500 feet through Tuesday morning with
minimal accumulation anticipated.

Overall, model agreement has been poor in exact position and
evolution of each shortwave, so forecast confidence is low in
timing of precipitation and cooler temperatures. There is,
however, good agreement in a generally unsettled week, with
temperatures near normal, cloudy skies, and elevated light
precipitation chances each day.

.AVIATION...Generally VFR. Localized MVFR/IFR in scattered showers
overnight in central ID mountains. Periods of snow showers over
south-central ID beginning late tomorrow morning, resulting in
MVFR conditions. Surface winds: W to N 15-25 kt with afternoon
gusts 25-40 kt. Winds aloft at 10kft: N to NW 20-35 kt.

KBOI...VFR. Surface winds: W-NW 15-20 kt, with gusts 25-35 kt,
decreasing by Fri/00z to N 5-10 kt.

Weekend Outlook...VFR on Saturday with light and variable winds
less than 10 kt across the region. Increasing clouds with low
chance (20-30%) of showers and brief MVFR near KMYL on Sunday.
Mountains obscured in precipitation.
